Autsch!

Ouch! A lot of people here REALLY don't get it, even when they BELIEVE they get it (Luke) or claim to be Americans in Germany themselves (Sebastian). And this blog entry is really so OBVIOUSLY making fun of somebody ELSE than Germans! That's quite sad.

Wrong. The solution of how to travel in Germany and not be bothered by German culture is to not go to Germany you americanized piece of [crap]. If going there to you means eating mcdonalds and not trying the local food, you should probably die, you are the reason that the rest of the world hates us.

Editor's Note: Two things:

Please refrain from using FTC unapproved language in comments.
There is an obvious fallacy in your logic. The rest of the world hated us long before I posted this article.

Bring your own nonperishables. If you don’t have American snacks with you, you might be forced to sample local products. You might not enjoy these local treats as much as the ones you are used to, so don’t take any chances. (Snickers is available if you run out and need to buy some good chocolate.)

(Hey we also got Mars and Bounty...if you want you can put a bag of sugar on top of OUR chocolate, so it will taste the same...)

to dent:
"And if you rent a car to check out the Autobahn, make sure it’s a Chrysler. German cars just suck."
(Yeah like BMW because you can't afford our cars :D )

"Btw, there are stores everywhere open 24/7, we call them “Tanke” - you get all you need if you’re willing to pay for it"...true

Enjoyed reading the comments. However much I like the States there are three thing the Yanks can´t make (well they make them but are all useless) and that´s: cars, beer and coffee. It therefore doesn´t surprise me that so many Americans visit Germany.

Hi,

when being in Germany, try the "Nordschleife" (http://www.nuerburgring.de/). This is an test and raceway build in the 1920s, 20,8 km long (about 13 miles i think), used later from the "Formel 1". Now you can still drive as a private person with your private car (bus, motorcycle) on it or use the "Ringtaxi", a BMW M3 driven by a nice racing girl. But watch out, your driving at your own risk.

It´s also called "Die grüne Hölle." = The green hell.

Greetings from Germany, near the Nürburgring.

;-)

@Artur: Also ich finds lustig was er so schreibt. Das ganze ist ja auch nicht besonders ernst gemeint. So sehe ich das jedenfalls.

Why do without American treats? You can get Oreos, Hershey bars or marshmallows, peanut butter a lot of ohter stuff in many stores now. American food is considered pretty hip here.
So all you guys don't be afraid of suffering from hunger. We do have more than the golden arches. There is Burger King, KFC, Subway and Pizza Hut in almost every city, too!!
But keep your hands away from German meats. There is much less drugs in it than you are used to. So you could easly be taken sick because your daly dose is missing.
